His Magnificence the Rector of the Opole University of Technology, Professor Marcin Lorenc

Prof. PhD Eng. Marcin Lorenc - professor at the Opole University of Technology, in 2019 he was elected rector of the Opole University of Technology.

Dsc. PhD Eng. Marcin Lorenc was employed at the Opole University of Technology in 1993. He was, among others, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics and Computer Science and at the Faculties of Production Engineering and Logistics. In 2011, he obtained the title of associate professor. At universities, he held such positions as: member of the Senate of the Opole University of Technology, member of the Council of the Faculty of Production Engineering and Logistics, and head of the Department of Production Quality Engineering and Services in the Institutions of Process and Product Innovation at the Faculties of Production Engineering and Logistics. From the beginning of his scientific and teaching activities, he has combined his managerial experience in action. His research focuses on research related to artificial intelligence in the inventory control process.

The Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians, Opole Branch is a voluntary scientific and technical association, associating engineers, technicians, students and pupils. The Polish Association of Construction Engineers and Technicians, Opole Branch deals with construction issues and professional and social matters of its members. It conducts statutory and economic activities, which serve to implement its statutory goals.

The statutory goals of the Association include:

- construction expertise,

- training and courses,

- organization of cometitions,

- organization of conferences,

- providing recommendations on technical credibility to construction companies.

After the establishment of the Higher School of Engineering in Opole on 1 June 1966, the General Technical Faculty was established simultaneously with the Faculty of Mechanics and Electrical Engineering. In 1967, it was given the name: Faculty of Civil Engineering. Scientific research conducted at the faculty includes such original and important issues as: structural mechanics, earthquake and wind engineering, research on thermal effects on engineering structures, steel structures in fires, thermomechanics, cooperation of structures with the ground, contemporary issues of building physics, engineering of building materials in the field of composites based on cement and gypsum binders, utilization of industrial waste in the building materials industry.

International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS), founded by Eduardo Torroja in 1959, is a non-profit organization. It has as its goal the achievement of further progress through an interchange of ideas among all those interested in lightweight structural systems such as lattice, tension, membrane, and shell structures, in particular architects, engineers, and builders.
